How this works

Net cash flow
Income − Expenses. What each month adds or subtracts from your bank balance. Positive months build runway, negative months eat into it.
Closing balance
Opening + Net. Your bank balance at month-end. Each month's closing becomes the next month's opening. This compounds — small monthly losses become large annual ones.
Cash gaps
Any month where closing balance goes below zero. You'll need to arrange overdraft, delay payments or bring forward income. Spotting them 6 months out gives you options — 6 days out does not.
Runway buffer
Closing balance divided by monthly expenses. Under 1 month is tight — one late invoice can hurt. Over 3 months is healthy. This is more important than profit for SME survival.
